Microsoft to End Support for Windows XP

Microsoft has announced that it will discontinue support for its Windows XP operating system and its Office 2003 software on April 8, 2014.   To avoid compromised systems, compatibility issues, and downtime, Cyber City recommends that anyone still using XP or Office 2003 upgrade as soon as possible.

What You Need to Know

  • On April 8, 2014, Microsoft will discontinue support for Windows XP and Office 2003.
  • Updates, including security updates, will no longer be released, causing an increased security risk for users still running this software.
  • Many third-party software providers are no longer releasing versions or updates compatible with XP or Office 2003.  As a result, users may be unable to upgrade software and drivers or may experience increased security risks.
  • Users still running XP and/or Office 2003 should upgrade to newer versions as soon as possible to avoid security risks, downtime, and compatibility problems.
